I didn't do it!
First, let me dispel the rumor that has been circulating that I invented the computer. Not true. Just because I have worked with computers for over fifty years does not mean I invented them, or even that I know all about them. I got into this strange business as a computer user back in the days when a computer meant a room full of equipment. Back in the days of vacuum tubes, before transistors and other solid state devices came into being. From there I graduated into a "hacker". In those days, a hacker was simply someone who needed a computer job done and decided to teach himself to program so that he could do it. I learned Fortran first, and later programmed assembly language, Algol, APL and Basic. The last occurred when I bought my own first computer: a TRS 80 Model III. The good news about computers is that things change so fast that you can never "know it all." The better news is that, with the internet, you can't even come close. But the best news is that there are plenty of ways to find the answers you need to know!
My love of computers continues to this day, but now it's focused on website building, blogging, internet marketing and online network marketing. I am fortunate enough to be able to combine this with my two other passions - fitness and travel. If you share any of those interests, take a look at some of my other websites/blogs:
I have been a runner for a couple of decades now, and started a website for Half Marathon training a few years ago. However, I soon found that running distances is not enough to keep me fit: I felt the need for strength training as well. I have always hated machines and don't feel much better about free weights, but have now found a program that works for me and has had a lot of success with both runners and non-runners. Here is a link where you can read about it: My Fitness Site and this is my running site: My Running Site
My Vacation Site is a link to my vacation home on Roatan, in the Bay Islands of Honduras. You can see what it looks like, and even rent it if you like! The picture (taken on Roatan) is of me with my girl friend Samantha and my wife Billie. (Billie is the one on the right!) You can swim, snorkel or dive with Samantha and her friends at Anthony's Key provided you book ahead.
My Networking Blog covers a lot of topics, from computer security to personal development. I'm working on narrowing the scope, but meanwhile you're sure to find something of interest there! And of course, I'm on several social sites. You'll find me on Facebook and Twitter as Alan Jenkin
